Neben der Serie kommt auch ein neuer Film von A24:

Curry Barker Directing ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ Reboot Movie for A24

In addition to the previously announced television series from A24, JT Mollner, and Glen Powell, a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie is also in development over at A24.

Variety reports tonight that Curry Barker (Obsession) will direct the brand new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie for A24, which is being described as a “reimagining.”

“Barker’s vision for the famed killer Leatherface and the gaggle of young things he terrorizes are under wraps,” Variety notes in their big time exclusive report tonight.

Roy Lee and Steven Schneider of Spooky Pictures will produce A24’s new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie, along with Stuart Manashil and Exurbia Films’ Pat Cassidy, Ian Henkel, and Kim Henkel. Ben Ross of Image Nation serves as executive producer.

A24 emerged victorious earlier this year from a months-long bidding war for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre film and television rights, with both a film and TV show in development.

Strange Darling filmmaker and The Long Walk screenwriter JT Mollner is spearheading the TV series based on the iconic horror property. Glen Powell will executive produce.

“It was a difficult decision, but A24’s embrace of boundary-testing genre film and its record of working with artists who are inclined to test boundaries made them a compelling choice,” original Texas Chain Saw Massacre co-writer Kim Henkel said in a statement earlier this year. “Plus, we believe having a great creative and producing team — JT Mollner, Roy Lee, Dan Cohen, and Glen Powell — in place gives us the best shot at a series that could be genuinely eye-opening and unexpected. There’s an epic tale lurking in the Chainsaw backstory.”

Bei mir wird da erstmal kein Hype aufkommen, ich fand The Beginning (wie so viele andere) den einzigen letzten guten Teil. Alles danach konnte man sich wirklich sparen, vor allem Texas Chainsaw 3D ;)

Following last week’s announcement that Curry Barker has been tapped to helm a new reimagining of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the Obsession filmmaker has made his first public comments on the project.

“I love the original,” Curry said of Tobe Hooper’s 1974 genre-defining classic during a recent Q&A. “I think that one is really raw and was really good for its time. And I actually think the 2003 remake is actually quite good too, but it could also be from, there’s a nostalgia there.”

He added, “A lot of people are excited about [the reboot], but a lot of people are like, ‘Put this thing to bed. It’s all been done.’ I beg to differ. Seriously. I really think that the potential for that series has not been fully realized. I actually feel like a lot of the remakes went the opposite direction than it should have gone.”

Barker continued, “I’m really excited to do a Texas Chainsaw Massacre that’s not just about a guy chasing some people around with a chainsaw; that has some heart to it. You care about these characters and want to see them survive, and it’s brutal.”

:schnarch:
