A24 hat sich die Rechte gesichert und eine Serie ist in Arbeit:

A24 finally is working on the next iteration of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise with a TV series from JT Mollner being the first project out of the gate. This comes after winning a months-long bidding war for the 1974 horror feature’s franchise TV and film rights, which we’ve told you about. A24 won those rights back in September in an auction led by Verve.

Series EPs include Spooky Picture’s Roy Lee and Steven Schneider, who are reteaming with Mollner after Strange Darling, as well as Stuart Manashil, Image Nation’s Ben Ross, Barnstorm’s Glen Powell and Dan Cohen, and Exurbia Films’ Kim Henkel, who co-created the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Powell is only producing. Exurbia Films’ Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy also will produce.

Wo wird es den verheitzt? Der letzte Film ist 4 Jahre her! Und es gibt viel weniger Filme als in anderen Reihen.

Die Geschichte ist aber auch schon ein bisschen auserzählt, seitdem zweiten Teil kam da ja nicht viel neues.

Vielleicht gehen sie ein wenig Arthousig an das Thema ran, dann könnte es vielleicht interessant werden.

Ich meinte damit die ganzen Timelines ala Halloween. Es gibt zwar einige gute Filme dazwischen, aber eben auch genug Gurken.
Mittlerweile sind es schon 9 Filme, so wenig sind das ja auch nicht.
Es könnte natürlich noch schlimmer kommen, wenn beispielsweise Disney das Franchise hätte ...

Ganz stimmen die Timeline hier nicht! Texas 3 und Next Generation sind beide eigenständig und hängen nicht mit den Originalfilmen zusammen!

Beginning soll ja jetzt von Plaion kommen, Nachsynchro ist ja schon durch, hatten sie in einem Lifestream im Chat geschrieben. Jetzt wüsste ich noch gerne wann der 22er endlich aus dem Netflix Gefängnis kommt, ist ja auch nur ein Lizenzkauf gewesen.

Glen Powell on His ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ TV Series: “We’re Gonna Do Something Really Special with It”​

As announced last month, Glen Powell will executive produce A24’s upcoming “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” series from Strange Darling filmmaker JT Mollner.

The A-lister spoke to Variety about the highly anticipated project.

“Texas Chain Saw is, I think, one of the most brilliant horror movies. It defined the genre,” said Powell. “I feel that A24 is a place that’s really making such special things, and they’re such a custodian and guardian of quality.”

He continues, “I know we’re gonna do something really special with it, so I’m feeling very, very good. It was a long process to get there, but I know we have something really fun ahead.”

Powell also confirms that, as of now, he only plans to produce and not appear in the series, but he is “definitely gonna be very involved” in the production.

Powell executive produces with Dan Cohen via Barnstorm, alongside Spooky Pictures’ Roy Lee (Weapons) and Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity), Stuart Manashil (His House), Image Nation’s Ben Ross (Late Night with the Devil), and Exurbia Films’ Kim Henkel, co-creator of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Exurbia Films’ Ian Henkel & Pat Cassidy (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022) will produce.

A new Texas Chainsaw Massacre film is also in early development from the same producing team, but Mollner isn’t attached to that project.
